JUST GET IT OUT THERE
First proper shows outside Sweden, a debut album about to land, and a stretch of dates taking them further from home than before, Sylvie’s Head are moving right now. We caught up with vocalist Erik Grahn as they head into a run that feels like a clear step up from where they were just a year ago.
A year back, they had just released their first EP and hadn’t played outside Gothenburg. Now, they’re crossing borders with a release on the horizon and a sense that things are starting to click into place. It’s less about a sudden thing and more about steady momentum; shows stacking up, new places to play and a band getting comfortable outside its home turf.
Shows in Budapest, Bratislava and Dresden, first time all of them, what's your thoughts on playing places you have never been to before?
– It’s nice. This part of Europe is beautiful in spring and hopefully we'll meet some beautiful people as well.
Behind the scenes, there have been a few important shifts. Signing with Welfare Sounds stands out as a key move, giving them the support needed to focus on the music rather than everything around it. The kind of decision that doesn’t make noise but changes the pace.
What would make this run of shows a success for you, beyond just playing them?
– If we could inspire some kid to start a band, that would be great. Other than that, we just want to enjoy it and have a good time.
So if you're around and up for a good time, check the band later on this week;
