VIVA SOUNDS ANNOUNCES...

Is Viva Sounds already in your calendar? Good! If not, take a break from reading this, open whatever it is you need to open and draw a big circel around November 28-30. Viva la Festival! And this just in, Motorpsycho from Norway are confirmed.

"Wait, what? Isn't Viva Sounds in December this year?". Well, just sssch! It's the same week as always but the year and days move a bit, you know? So just relax, you can still make it home for Christmas. More importantly, Viva Sounds just announced their first artist, and it's no other than Norwegian legends Motorpsycho. It's been a long time since they played Gothenburg.

Motorpsycho have their origin back in the mid-1980's and really saw the light of day with the first demo recording in 1990. More than 30 years may have passed but the band is as inspiring and awe-making as ever, with their latest album "Yay!" (2023) summarizing an incredible career span.

During the hiatus brought by covid lockdown and a cancellation of everything planned, Motorpsycho took the opportunity to transform their rehearsal space into a studio. Two months into recording, the band had created so many new songs that they couldn’t even hear if it was good enough, or just something for the bin, something to throw away and start anew. With the help of their friends Reine Fiske (Dungen, The Amazing a.o.) and Fredrik Swahn (Dungen, Melody’s Echo Chamber, The Amazing a.o.), the material was sorted, produced and mixed, resulting in the birth of 2023’s "Yay!", with more of a modern psychedelia sound than the band’s recognizable progressive exploration.
